This district is popular amongst a wide range of people, students as well as young professionals and families. Nordend has the highest population density in Frankfurt and is the second biggest district (in terms of inhabitants) after Sachsenhausen.
To enjoy urban life at its best, check out the area around Oeder Weg and Glauburgstraße. There are lots of trendy cafes, bars and restaurants, but also several small design and arts & crafts shops. The farmer’s market at Friedberger Platz is the hot spot to start one’s weekend, not only if you live in Nordend, but for people from all over Frankfurt. Every Friday, this local square turns into a casual after work party location – enjoy a drink and some local food from the market!
Important sights in this neighborhood are the Deutsche Bibliothek (German library), Nationalbibliothek (national library), Frankfurt’s police headquarters, the Hessischer Rundfunk (broadcasting channel for the state of Hesse) and the Eschersheimer Tor. For some greenery, be sure to visit Günthersburgpark, Holzhausenpark and Bethmannpark. These three parks belonged to patricians and banking families, who sold or donated the park to the city of Frankfurt.
In terms of culture, Stalburg Theater (theatre), Mal Sehn Kino (art house cinema) and Sankt Peter (a former church now offering different workshops) offer an interesting and diverse program.
As a true metropolitan city, Frankfurt has an excellent infrastructure. Nordend, in the North of the city center, has the highest subway station concentration in all of Frankfurt connecting it to the rest of the city and surrounding areas.
Frankfurt Nordend is especially popular among young business professionals and trendsetters. It is central, but not oversized, with lots to discover away from tourist crowds.
