Berlin-Charlottenburg is located in West Berlin. Charlottenburg used to be an independent city until it became a part of Berlin in 1920, and in 2001 it was merged with another Berlin district, Wilmersdorf.

When people talk about Charlottenburg the first thing that comes to mind is the exclusive reputation of this area. First and foremost, it is known for its old and representative city villas, which are beautifully restored and leave inhabitants with nothing to be desired.

The exclusive charm of Berlin-Charlottenburg is not limited to its residential areas. Strolling down one of Berlin’s shopping avenues Kurfürstendamm (also called Ku’damm), any high-street fashion desire can be satisfied in one of the many flagship stores of luxury brands and exclusive boutiques on this 3.5 km long street. Since Berlin is home of the Berlin fashion week, also lots of up and coming labels can be found in this area. For even more shopping and a huge selection of international food and delicatessen, check out the famous shopping mall Kaufhaus des Westens (in short KaDeWe)! Just around the corner, you can visit Germany’s oldest zoo, Zoologischer Garten Berlin, or take a walk in the adjacent spacious park Tiergarten.

Charlottenburg has a lot to offer when it comes to art and culture. For theater and music enthusiasts, Deutsche Oper Berlin or Theater des Westens are worth a visit. A baroque architectural highlight is Schloss Charlottenburg, where the German monarchs used to reside. Besides the magnificent interior, the spacious palace garden is welcoming visitors to talk a walk and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

If you are trying to find the Messe Berlin ExpoCenter, the distinctive Funkturm (Langer Lulatsch) will help you find the way. The structure is reminiscent of the Paris Eiffel Tower and is open for visitors in good weather.

With the Berlin bus, tram and train network, it is easy to get around everywhere in Berlin or nearby cities around the clock. The train station Zoologischer Garten used to be West Berlin’s central station during the Cold War and has excellent connections to this day.
